You definitely want a healthy mix of content on your Instagram account.

Remember: Instagram is a community driven platform that likes to see you as part of what's going on rather than a shameless promoter.

The more you can post interesting content that adds to the subject matter of your niche the more likes and follows you are going to get when people come to your page.

That being said, you should only spend money on sending people to promotion posts, i.e. your product posts.

When that traffic gets to you though, your credibility will increase 10x if you have a lot of other non-promotional or non-sales content.

So the rule is generally this: for every 5 Instagram posts you do, 4 of them should be content and 1 of them should be promo/sales.

This is also known as the 80/20 rule.
